§ 54-5. Same—Notice; failure to comply; action by city; lien.

  • It shall be the duty of the chief of police to report any violations set forth in section 54-3 to the city clerk, who shall send a registered letter to the violator advising such violator to cut the grass and weeds and/or to remove the trash and/or rubbish within ten days from the receipt of the registered letter. If such notice is ignored, the city council is authorized to hire such personnel as they may deem necessary to cut such grass and weeds, and/or to remove the trash and/or rubbish on the property of the violator, and the city shall have a lien against the real property for the amount of the expenses incurred in connection therewith, and may enforce such liens against the property as provided by law.
